In his speech, Reagan expressed his concern that the people of 2076 may never get to read the letter because it spoke of individual freedom.

Michael Adams, a journalism student, writes an article about America’s Tricentennial and wonders if his generation understands what it means to be an American. He uncovers a dangerous plot to destroy the Reagan letter—its message no longer welcome in a country where liberty has died and tyranny rules.Michael turns to the man who introduced him to Reagan’s ideas—Calvin Marshall, a history professor who is hiding, and only his granddaughter, Michael’s ex-girlfriend, Jackie Perez, knows of his whereabouts.
